Our CoastKnights capability teams contribute specialized knowledge to a shared reconnaissance workflow. Capability Teams are flexible pools of expertise that are activated according to the mission, hazard, or research question. Their roles can change with the hazard.
GeoKnights: geospatial observation, mapping, surveying, and remote sensing
WaveKnights: coastal processes, waves, water levels, and instrumentation
StructuralKnights: infrastructure, buildings, damage, and performance
CommunicationKnights: social science, risk communication, community perspectives, and public information
EmergencyKnights: preparedness, coordination, logistics, and rapid response
EnvironmentalKnights: ecosystems, environmental impacts, water quality, and recovery
EduKnights: training, education, mentoring, and workforce development
Every strong reconnaissance team depends on people with different skills, perspectives, and levels of experience.
CoastKnights brings students, faculty, and staff together around a shared commitment to understanding coastal change.
